or let her wear it? I've already tried telling her "I don't like the color" but she says she has the perfect shoes or something so I can't think of other ways!

Well, she might know that she looks "fat" in the dress but doesn't really care. If you tell her she looks fat, then that may trigger something in her to make her start questioning her weight, when she might have no problem with the way she looks right now. To say the dress is ugly is totally different than telling her that "she" looks fat in it. I think you should let her wear it, cause if she's comfortable in it, that's all that really matters. Just next time, GO WITH HER to make the purchase, so you can suggest things that flatter her shape better!

lol! This is cute!

I wouldn't just come right out and say, "You look fat in the dress". Be more tactful, and conscious of her feelings.
Instead you might want to say,
"That dress doesn't fit your shape, I think you should look around some more for one that does..."

If she's still talking about her matching shoes, or some other excuse to continue wearing it...then just let it be. You tried!!

Hope everything works out!

like you said thats your friend so a friend would tell a freind something like this. maybe you could suggest her to wear something else. or how about telling her you dont think it will bring her out.or maybe even just being straight up and say it makes her look fat but in a nice way.

as her friend it is your duty to tell her she looks fat. a good friend just wants the best for her other friends. but when you do it you must be very careful and you must do it on a soft way. make sure she understands you but try not to hurt her feelings. then help her to find something beter!!!! good luck

Oh my - that's a tough place to be in. Try taking pics of her in the dress, front AND back AND sides, and show it to her. :)
