It is anything that is physical and is an attempt to show you that someone has power over you. It is often accompanied by other kinds of abuse as well. It often starts out really small, like a grab or a little shove or something, and leaves you wondering, "is this a bad sign, was this an aggressive act?" Then it just builds up. Eventually there is enough small stuff that happens so gradually that people end up in really bad relationships feeling dependent on someone but not realizing how unhealthy it has become. if you or someone you know is being abused, if you even question it, NEVER BE AFRAID TO ASK SOMEONE FOR HELP. It is never shameful, it can only be for the better. I don't know if this is the kind of situation you're talking about, but I thought if it is, then I wanted to emphasize that. If not, just go with the first line or two.

If anyone, ever, puts their hands on you in any type of threatening way...that is physical abuse. Even once.
That includes shoving, hitting, kicking, biting, slapping; anything at all.
That also includes sexual abuse. Forcing someone to have sex or perform any type of unwanted sexual act is physical abuse.
It is physical abuse if someone throws things at you or uses an object to hurt you in any way. Anything that causes physical pain is physical abuse.

Physical abuse is someone beating up on a person on a constant basis. It can also be considered physical abuse even if it happened one time.

I do however feel it is more then just a single slap across the face or a few swats on the butt for bad behavior.

I feel it has to be more violent then that, but you can be accused of abuse even if it is a single slap, since it's up to the person you hit to consider it abusive and charge you with abuse.

In conclusion it's best to treat everyone with respect and not lay hands on them in anger.

When someone lays their hands on another person out of anger or in an attempt to control them, that's abusive. An angry person can attempt to control another person by grabbing hold of their wrists and pushing them into a submissive posture, or against a wall. That might not leave a mark, and there was no punching involved, but it was an abusive act done out of an intent to dominate and force another person into a physically weakened position.

If someone touches you in a way that makes you uncomfortable at all, that's physical abuse. Your body is your own and anyone touching it without your blessings could be considered physically abusing you.
