if you really want to keep a hamster as a pet

you must first study every thing, there is to know about keeping it healthy and happy

You need to know what to fed them and what not to

you need to save up for all its equipment , cage, drinker , playwheel, bedding , etc

and be able to take the responsibility ,
of cleaning it out regularily

, and ensuring it has clean fresh water in its bottle daily

then when you have all the above sorted

go explain to your mum , all you have done, show her you know how to care for this animal on your own .
and say;
please Mom i love you , can i get a hamster NOW please

I do hope she will understand and relent .

Cracking her will prob not work, unless you have proven to her that you are grown up enough to handle looking after a hamster.
I had a hamster when I was about ten and I wish I was never allowed to have it now.
I was too young to really care enough about the hamster and didn't clean the cage enough(I got magets in it once) also, you need to be able to buy food and wood shavings. The water must be fresh every day and the hamster will prob like some play time. If you have a cat then the hamster will be bothered all the time. Plus, hamsters only live a few years, if you are lucky. And, what will you do when you go away on holidays or for the weekedn to a friends?
Show mom that you can handle all this and more and perhaps she will be okay with letting you purchase a hamster.

I wanted a rat but my mum wouldnt let me.

First be good for a week, clean your room all the time, do the dishes, hoover, help with the shopping. Then ask , if she says no, dont give up.

Next do research on hamsters find out everything about them-caging, food, excersice, treats, toys everything. Do a report on it explaining you are responsable and explain about what you know about them.

If you have any money try and save up to put something towards buying it.

Go around the house with a tape measure measuring the possibilitys where the cage could go. If you mum asks tell her.

Do not beg or whine it looks like you are immature and not ready for a hamster or any pet. Always think for the pets needs not yours.

Hopefully this will work good luck.

I ended up with two gorgeous mice that i adore and payed for. =D

okay, first, you start by being super good, for about a week, doing chores, without being asked, and just being nice to siblings if any, and then ask her nicely once. if she says no, ask why. they usually say, because i dont want one or because you dont need one. before you ask, research the benefits of having a hampster. after she tells u y she doesnt want one, give her facts about the hamster, tell her it willl make you more responsible, tell her that you will take care of it no matter what, tell her how good youve been for the past week. if she still says no, just keep asking her and asking her, badgering her until she gives in. als, ask ur dad(if u have a dad my friend doesnt) too, keep asking both of them, and if one says yes, go to the other and say, mom/dad said i could have one. This is the stratigy i used to get my three guinea pigs.

Lets just make this short and sweet. Tell her if she buys it you will find a part time job so that you can buy the food. Or you can tell her that if she pays for every thing that you will work it off by doing chores of her choosing.
