An angel! We've always done that with our Christmas tree and it has a more dramatic effect.

A star to light the way with a choir of heavenly hosts. So we have a star on top with angel ornaments decorating the rest of the tree.

I prefer stars out of those choices. When I was little, we had a Santa teddy bear w/ presents and toys around it. Now, I have a silver tree topper that looks like 2 Christmas ornaments stuck together w/ a point on top... it's prettier than I can describe it! LOL I also have a 3D brownish star, but it's too heavy (and dangerous, those points are SHARP!) to put up on the tree.

It depends on your tree color and theme. I have a white tree with blue, red and silver decorations with an angel with a red outfit on to match the rest of the tree, if you have a green trea with no theme, go with an angel, if you have a very decorated tree (tinsel, lights, ornaments, garland, the whole nine yard) I would do a star so not to distract from the tree itself.

I would personally rather have a star on the Christmas tree. I think that they are verry pretty ( they are lighter too) . I have read a lot of the other answers and I completely agree. It is more of a personal decision. It has to match your personality and also match your beliefs. If you don't believe in God, I don't think that you should have either. My sister actually has a Mickey Mouse on top. I think it is kind of cute.

Definitely a star. Angels can be put anywhere on a tree.

i think angels are more sentimental but who can say they dont like the light up light changing star we have that but i saw just last weekend as i was helping a friend decorate her tree that her angel lights up as well but the star reminds me of the north star so whatever you like the best MERRY CHRISTMAS...!

i hav an angel for the top of our tree, but the star's pretty cute. whatever fits and stays up id say.

I have an old angel that was my grandmother's. I remember my grandfather lifting me up to put the angel on when I was little.
