This is the first war that the taxes were cut , can you believe that .
Every other war the American people were asked to sacrifice something .
In order to win this war , we as a nation have to want to .
How can all the American people be behind this war when we aren't asked to do giveup anything to win it ?
If this is a war for our freedom and safety , then shouldn't we all have to share in the pain of war ?

You only think that we are not sacrificing anything. We are sacrificing more than you realize.

Bush has not been reporting the cost of the war in his budget, using supplementals to fund the conflict, which is costing almost 2 billion each day. At the same time he has not raised funds to pay for the war, instead he is deficit spending at a record rate, causing the national debt to skyrocket past historic levels.

Guess what? some day the bill will come due and guess who will have to pay it?

On top of that, Bush has been using a back door draft to send national guard and reservists to fight overseas instead of instituting a draft. Since most people dont have a kid fighting and dying over there, it appears that no harm is being done. Visit a national cemetary and count the fresh graves.

According to the Liberals & Democrats we are sacrificing our freedoms due to the war on terrorism. Ask them, they will be most happy to tell you about it.

Actually, many mothers and fathers have sacrificed their sons & daughters. The Republican politicians have sacrificed control in the Senate & House. Americans have sacrificed unity.

You are correct in stating that "In order to win this war, we as a nation have to want to". This is what has divided us - The Liberals & Democrats do not want to win the war on terrorism, they would rather hand the citizens and this country over without a fight.

We may appear to be a selfish society, until some one asks for help. My son is a US Soldier currently serving in Iraq. He gets embarrasses when people thank him for his service. He looks at it as a duty and privilege.
There are hundreds of ways to support our troops, unfortunately the American Press has not favored this war and so these efforts are not publicized.
Go to www.iraqwarnews.net and scroll through the site. There is a group called Soldiers Angles, that encompasses a lot of program. There are groups that make quilts for the injured, supply care packages, and Internet access. There are scholarship programs for fallen soldiers kids, and wives, and even the Dear Abby "any soldier program" where you can send letters to soldiers who don't have a lot of family support back home. There are even programs to help these selfless defenders provide school supplies to the kids around them. Help get the word out, the people of this country have stepped up time and again to help and even sacrifice for others if they just know what is needed.
The greatest sacrifice made is by the loved ones left behind. My son claims there are only 2 reasons a soldier dies. 1 he gets stupid or 2 God decides he is finished with his time on earth. And the first is never exclusive of the second. The one thing my son told me he needed was for me to pray for him, not to get stupid and that God wasn't finished with him yet.
Proud Mom of a US Soldier.

Great point. I think America has become weaker because of all the division thats going on. It will be all that harder to suceed in Iraq because of it. I like many havent sacrificed anything for this war but i do hope we win it and would be willing to sacrifice something if asked.

We aren't giving up anything?

I think that my best friend would disagree - her husband is was over there, and was injured by an IED. I think she is one of the thousands of families that have sacrificed. And the 2,800 + families that lost members of their families sacrificed the most.

The government has made it so that we don't "feel it" like they did during the World War's. And I think if there were a war on the scale of those wars, we would be feeling things a lot more.

You're got your head on backwards, no offense.

The problem isn't that we aren't sacrificing now, its that our taxes have been absurdly high for SO long that the government should damn well be able to fight this war without us giving up any more money.

Our country is absolutely rich, there are very, very few truly poor people here. Our sacrifices are the lives of our brave young men and women fight over there right now. Isn't that sacrafice enough?

ROCK ON SISTER!

You are correct, and I'm saddened daily by the ignorance of people saying that we just need to get out.

We were given freedom by God.

Without choice, there can be no love. We need to be free to choose a path. That is why America has been blessed, and why we MUST fight for freedom around the world.

Radical Islam offers no choice, just orders to follow or die.
Sounds like the opposite of love doesn't it?

And from what I have always heard is that "God Is Love"

Well.....I don't understand your stance. I guess you aren't that old ,to not be aware of the changes in this world and in America for awhile. Maybe you aren't aware of all the projects American people are involved in to help our armed forces. Our national debt is going to take ions to pay off. If you feel you aren't sacrificing enough, then get involved. Heck, donate for the helmet add ons to help our troops. Get involved with a group who packages the care packages that get sent to them on a regular basis. Adopt a soldier. They have all sorts of programs in which citizens are active in to support our troops. If you aren't "sacrificing", then you just aren't involved. Get looking and get involved. Your services are needed.
