ur present hardware( video controller +monitor) can only support 800x600.Try ugrading ur hardware rather than spoiling ur monitor

Make sure when you change your monitor resolution you choose 16bit, 24bit or 32bit color. This will ensure accurate color reproduction.

If your screen simply looks distorted when you change the resolution, then your monitor is not capable of running at that higher resolution. If this is the case then keep your monitor at 800x600 or the monitor might become damaged.

On the same screen where you change your resolution, there is a dropdown menu that selects color quality. Try setting this at 32bit after you change the resolution.
