in order for a convicted felon to carry/own a firearm he must 1) be in a state that allows felon's to own/carry firearms (to which I have to say there are NONE to my knowledge.) 2) some how have his conviction overruled by the courts. those are the only ways i know of to remove the ban. attached are some other reasons to be denied the purchase of a firearm:

Dishonorable Discharge from Military Service and Coast Guard
Illegal/Unlawful Alien
Secret Service Protective File
Mental Health and Controlled Substance Abuse
Persons Who Renounce Their Citizenship

we are guaranteed the right to bear arms by the constitution but each state has different laws about carrying a forearm, many states require a class and permits, the best way to find out is check with a reputable store that sells firearms. But I would also advise calling the local police station to ask if they gave you the correct information and to find out about the laws that involve transportation of firearms and what constitutes a concealed weapon.

You are allowed to have them in your home for protection. You cannot carry concealed weapons around with you.

The right to bear arms is so severely outdated in my opinion.
