A ruler inch Measurement
One inch measures 8/8
1/8 Means: the measurement is one space from zero
2/8 Means the measurement is two spaces from zero
3/8 means the measurement is three spaces from zero
4/8 Means the mesurement is four spaces from zero
5/8 Means the measurement is five spaces from zero
6/8 Means the measurement is six spaces from zero
7/8 Means the measurement is seven spaces from zero
8/8 Means the measurement is eight spaces from zero

I gave you the eight's measurement. There are rulers that have measuements 16th, 32nd 64th etc. per inch.

If you are asking how an inch is divided, then it is divided into 12 inches per foot of length (30.36 cm)
Also there are 2.53cm per inch of length
There are also 0.395 inches per cm of length.

Depends on the context....
in carpentry....1/8ths or 1/16ths
in aerospace to the decimal....typical aerospace designs are carried out to three decimal places...i.e. 1/1000th of an inch
