Tell your daughter, when the baby finishes feeding, squeeze a little milk out and rub it gently all over the nipple, then let it dry naturally. I breastfed all 3 of my kids, and this is the best advice I ever got.xxx

I don't know of any sprays, but I used lansinoh it is a cream or something (it is thicker) and it really helped during those first couple of weeks. I bought it at target and babies r us, and I do believe there wer other brands. Just go to a store and look in the section where all the feeding stuff is, usually right next to it is the breast feeding stuff. (go to a store like target or wal mart, most grocery stores have nothing.)

Lansinoh cream works great. A little goes a long way! I've also tried Purilan, it didn't work so well for me. Make sure the baby opens her mouth really wide so she's not sucking straight from the nipple. This will help with the pain to. Hope I've helped!

I used Boots own spray. It was a God send! It was safe to spray on immediately before a feed.

Try using a drop of oil or cream (arachis oil or olive oil or hypericum calendula cream) to the pad. This is from New pregnancy and birth book by Dr Miriam Stoppard.

i didnt get sore nipples until four months into breast feeding, which is bizarre! I used nipple cream, boots own and nipple shields which completely took the pain away and they healed within two days.

Just check out www.boots.com in the maternity section, they stock a wide range of nipple soothing creams. If it gets really bad (i.e. very cracked nipples) or if she suspects thrush, she should see her GP as it could make her or her baby ill.
