....how are they that much different than a family in the UK spending their whole lives living on welfare? Put them in a smaller home, cheaper clothes, more basic food, and you have another family living off the taxes of the people that actually have jobs. How's it that much different? What is it exactly I'm not getting?

The Royals are parasites - they have a choice to be a drain on the taxpayer and they choose to do it. Many on welfare have no choice. Who is the more moral? My money's not with the Royals.

The difference between any rich family and a welfare family is that the rich family has a history of an ancestor or two who laid down a foundation for them so generations after them did not have to work like the normal person. A family on welfare are either people who don't want to work, or have trouble finding long term work. The royal families of the world are not welfare people, they are the rulers and/or social influences on their kingdoms and elsewhere.

The British Royal Family brings alot of of tourist revenue to the UK, as well as serve as ambassadors of good will throughout the world. Prince Charles champions causes such as historical preservation and environmental concerns. So the monarchy is not all bad.

and edinburgh is no.1 tourists attraction in britain after london.
