Politicians have no balls, voters have no brains, otherwise this would have happened long ago.

The war on drugs is failing because they're going at it from a not quite intelligent manner. The reason people keep going into the drug business, among other reasons, is that there is profits to be made. Why? Because the risk if its illegality makes it lucrative. As morally counterintuitive as it seems, making drug products legal would actually cause less interest for dealers to continue in the drug business, due to profit fall.

Because if all drugs were legalized, then the upper class elitests wouldnt be able to make as much money off of them. That, and the fact that if all drugs were legal, a large chunk of the population would kill themselves. Of course, after seeing this happen, lots of people would never do drugs again.
The war on drugs did achieve some things, BUT WHO WON? Now instead of concaine, you can now make your own drug thats cheaper and stronger using easily attainable chemicals yourself, right there in your own double-wide trailer!!

maybe the government needs to control the sale drugs and legalize it this way people don't have to sneak around to buy or sell it and then people can operate a legit business and pay taxes on the drugs they sell. We did it with alchol so why not drugs because they aren't going away

I agree with you Stephen.
In addition, legalizing marijuana would reduce the nation's dependency on prescription anti-depressants with questionable side effects. It would also be cheaper than anti-depressants.
Also, hemp, which is a byproduct, is a cheaper and stronger fiber than cotton and requires much less chemicals to produce (fertilizers, pesticides, etc) because it's a hardier plant than cotton.
It would also reduce chronic (no pun intended) prison overcrowding.
There are more reasons, but this will be enough to earn me some Thumbs Down! LOL

You are kidding. It was lost years ago. You can't legislate morality. Besides too many americans profit from the sale of drugs. Where do you think all those toys come from. Half the country is selling or running pron sites on the web.

I work in the criminal justice field, and my husband is in law enforcement. We have both seen first hand the devastation that drugs do to people and their families. Drug abuse is an epidemic and must not be condoned or justified simply under the "can't beat them, might as well join them" mentality. Drug users become the "real criminals". I think that the war on drugs is and will continue to be the most difficult war that our law enforcement officials and judicial systems will ever fight, but we cannot falter in our determination to maintain order and civility in our society. Thanks for asking a great question.

The penalty for dealing slow death should be a quick death. We should get serious. Seal off the borders and quit handing out clean needles to junkies.
Hard drug dealers are the "real criminals". Their trade causes murder and robbery.

It's ridiculous. You can't have a war on drugs, just like you can't have a war on terror or a war on poverty. You can only have a war between peoples.
