No. Security is a combination of what security programs you have on your PC (or the PC you happen to be using) and the security built in to whatever service provider you are using. Just because a provider is broadband doesn't necessarily mean they have better security built in.

The answer is No.

The reasons are:

1. Worms that sent Scripts does not need alot of bandwidth it can easily send your personal information everytime you get online

2. Pop up advertisments are installed directly to your computer. Regardless if your online or not you will get popups that can crash your computer. Although the popup windows might give a Page can not be displayed.

3. Installing Worms and Bots makes it your fault. They can not just go to your computer and give you a virus you have to install it in some kind of way. Despite the slow speed with dial up if you run a bad program you are still vulerable to an attack.

I guess you could say so, because you're not constantly connected to the internet. As long as you've got adequate virus protection, however, it shouldn't be a concern. It's hard to access a LOT of internet sites with dial-up these days, since it's so slow compared to high speed.

What ever your connection, when you are not on it unplug it--as far as hackers they can come in even if you are using and I am sorry to say even with a firewall because it has happened more than once, the idea is keep your PC Secure whether you have dialup or DSL. Be sure everything is up to date--download IE 7 and you will have a little more personal security.

Speed hasnt got anything to do with it.

It boils down to how secure your PC is

I.e. does it have a firewall

Which operating system are you using?

Are you using the latest antivirus software?

Which web browser are you using?

There are a considerable number of factors involved but the speed of your connection does not affect security.

No. You are still connected to the same internet high-speed connections are. Viruses, Worms and Trojans are usually small and can be downloaded with or without your knowledge just as easily.

There's no more security in either.Your security comes from Virus protection,adware/malware protection and firewalls. These are either seperate programs or built in to Windows or your specific browser.I've heard Firefox is the safest, but Yahoo! only crawls on it.
Just make sure you always have a spyware and virus scanning running.Even Yahoo! Mail is cleaned to some degree,by Yahoo! software.Your firewalls should be active in Windows, unless you've changed that.

Yes. High speed stays connected allowing acces from hackers.

2006-12-01 05:22:29 · answer #8 · answered by Anonymous · 1 0

Yeah, because dial-up disconnects at the set timer. High speed is always connected. So only when it's disconnected:)

Not from viruses, but from hackers or ID theft. Dialup lines generally give the caller a network address that's here today and gone as soon as you disconnect. A snooper may find your password, but the snooper won't be able to go anywhere with it, since there's no stable network address associated with the name and password.
