Me and husband know of a gay club 75 miles away that specializes in drag queen and drag king shows. We genuinely enjoy such shows. Would we be accepted there because we're straight? (I myself have some bi-curious tendencies, though...)

My stepgrandmother is gay and my therapist is gay. We are Christians, but we are not of the far-right persuasion and we believe in gay rights (like Robin Williams does).

We also want to make it clear that we are definitely not homophobes, but quite the contrary. As Christians, we have had to defend ourselves constantly by saying that our Jesus did not preach prejudice against gay people in His time on earth. In fact, me and husband would march in a gay/bi pride parade if we had the opportunity, and we view homophobia as being just as bad as racism. Thanks for letting me have my say. :-)

No, I don't think they will be bothered, as long as you respect them.

I'm a 38 year-old married woman who's had gay friends for many years. When we were in our 20's my girlfriends and I used to go with our gay male friends to gay bars alot. On nights when there were drag shows there would be LOTS of straight couples. Even though they were gay bars, on drag nights it seemed like sometimes straight people outnumbered gay people. Most gay people are very open and love it when straight people come in. It gives them a sense that you're accepting of them and not homophobic. With the exception of the occasional drunk homophobes who would try to start trouble, I never saw any gay person have a problem with straight people coming in to have a good time.

Typically, Gays do not have the prejudice that straights have in "their clubs." You will only have fun, no one will make a pass at you or hubby, and if they do, a simple "I'm with him/her" will do just fine. NEVER get rude when you are in a gay's house or club. Go for it, have a ball. I used to own a huge gay nightclub that specialized in Female impersonation....25% straight audience on any given night, the straights and gays had a great time, the striaghts we amazed at how much fun they always had....certainly a lot more fun than in their own clubs. Good luck

I doubt anyone's going to know or notice anyway. I don't see any problem with it. It's not like they're going to ask you your orientation at the door and keep you from coming in. Like most places I don't know how much PDA you should show, but if the club welcomes bisexuals then there could be male/female couples there where each of them is bisexual, but who's going to know the difference?

There was a bar in the Castro that kicked out straight couples who made out in the bar. Most places aren't run by a.ssholes though so you should be fine and dandy, just don't "witness" at these events...drag queen WILL make you cry.

Of course you would. I find homosexuals to be very accepting people. May be a bit too forward at times, but very accepting cool people.
I'm sure you both would be accepted there, bi-curious tendencies or not.

I saw a few straight couples at drag shows. No one gave it a second thought. Go and have fun. Make sure you take a bunch of $1.00's.

I've been to a lot of gay clubs with my boyfriend because they are the most fun to go to and the most friendly, I see no reason why they wouldn't accept you!

as long as you don't act like a couple idiotic homophobes, you'll be fine. my girlfriend and I used to go to them all the time.
music is usually better, the crowd is usually more peaceful, and your man doesn't have to worry about getting into a fight constantly.
and watching your woman dance with another female is extremely erotic...be prepared for a long night when you do go!

Yes, not to make a generalization but usually those clubs don't care if your gay, straight, crooked, or whatever.

You are welcome anytime to come and enjoy. Just be respectful all we ask, and it sounds like you already are this to us. We need more understanding people like yourselves. I would ask this, perhaps you can bring along another couple, help teach and educate them that we (gays/lebians) are not bad people. With your help we can all make a difference.
