So many people cry at movies... people can be such saps.

What I want to know is - has there ever been a book that made you so emotional that you had trouble reading the words through your tears?

I have heard of this but have yet to experience it for myself.

Wow, lots of books. Most recently? I read a book called A Certain Slant Of Light that had me crying in the last five pages. And I remember sobbing my eyes out at the end of Robin Hobb's Assassin trilogy (which was not worth crying about, honestly, but I got really sucked in).

Books can feel more vivid and real to some readers than to others. Maybe you just don't get as involved in books as I do. Or maybe you just haven't found the right books!

I have become more emotional reading books than watching movies. I get much more involved in books. A few that really got to me are...
Angela's Ashes
The Year Of Magical Living
The Lovely Bones (the saddest happy ending in a book ever)

Yes I Know This Much is True...made me cry for like 10 whole mintues. VERY emotional...yet it's one of the best books I've ever read...I would defintly recommend it!

And of course, when Sirius died in Harry Potter. Well the part that made me cry the most then was when he was in Dumbledore's office after...yeah. :-(

Read "The Giver" by Lois Lowry and cried like a baby.
Read "The Little Prince" by Antoine de Saint-Exupery and cried too.
And, truth be told, I've cried at points in several Harry Potter books.

Absolutely, Stones From The River, by Ursula Hegi One of the most unusual books I have ever read....LOL...saps? Yes, women especially, I should know, I am one...but, honestly, theres no shame in emotional response to the written word, after all, men get all kinds of emotional responses from Playboy, etc...right?

I was on a boat to Catalina when I was reading A Walk to Remember (the ONLY Sparks novel that has ever made me cry, swear to god) and I burst into tears. This old lady was trying to knit next to me and thought I was a complete lunatic.
