You can sleep in any position that is comfortable without fear of harming the baby. Even resting on your back is perfectly okay. It is only in labor, when the uterine blood flow is somewhat compromised by the frequent contractions, that lying on one's back is not recommended.

It is not that it will the baby (because it won't) it is because once you get bigger you won't feel very comfortable in that position. It is recommanded that you sleep on your left side, with pillow saports. It is only on the back that it is not recommanded, because of the inferior vena cava (the vein that returns the blood from your lower half). Putting all the weight of your growing uterus and everything else that usually is the can affect the circulation, which can cause hemmorriods, back pain, and even things like breathing problems, hypotension, and low blood pressure.

Trying to switch positions now can make it easier for when you are bigger, so it isn't as much of a problem to switch the new position. Sleeping on your side is the best, but if you do stay sleeping on your stomach and are comfortable they don't worry. It is said to be sleeping comfortable during pregnancy is a miracle. Believe me I am 28 weeks with number #2 and no sleeping is comfy.

You are not hurting your baby. My doctor explained to me several times that babies are very protected in their little sac and something like sleeping on your stomach isn't going to harm them. Now as for the comfort for you, thats a different story. If now it is comfortable then all is well. But chances are in the future it won't be comfortable and you will have to adjust to another way of sleeping. They say left side is best. Pillows between your legs can help too when the time comes it gets uncomfortable to sleep. And trust me those days are not far off.

Good luck and congrats

If it's still comfortble for you to sleep that way then do it. When you get to the point where your tummy is so big you can't sleep on your back or tummy and it becomes a huge task to turn in bed. Then you get no sleep because you can't get comfortable. Sleep however you feel comfortable and if you're still not sure, consult your doctor!! Good Luck!!

lying on your left side is best..beause it allows for more nutrients and oxygen to get to the baby! Stomach bad idea..besides once you start showing..you won't be able to for long!! So get used to sleeping in a different position now or you'll never get rest later on..sleeping on your back is also a no no because it cuts off blood supply to your legs and such!! Stick to your left side and get a pregnancy pillow..I too was a tummy sleeper and it helped me! CONGRATS & GOOD LUCK!

If you are still comfortable sleeping like that ,the baby will be OK.Believe me that in a couple of months, you will NOT be comfortable on your tummy!

Up to this point, no you havent hurt your baby, he/she's been too small and just floating around, however, if I were you, i would stop now as he/she is getting bigger, for one... you'll start to feel like youre sleeping on a bowling ball, two... its just not the recommended sleep position for best circulation. Dont sleep on your back (starting around now) either. Read "What to excpect when youre expecting." Left side is the ideal position for sleeping while prego!

No you aren't hurting your baby but you may want to start sleeping on your side with a pillow supporting your back. As long as you are not in pain and it's comfortable to you then do what puts you at ease.

Well, I am 20 weeks pregnant and I can't lay on my belly cause it feels wierd and sorta hurts. I am supposing that you don't have a bump yet or how could you lay on your stomach? As long as you are not in pain, I don't see how it will hurt the baby.

its not a good idea to lay on your stomach because you will be smooshing the baby. get some pillows and make like a little fort around you, so you dont roll to your back or stomach. i have that problem too. if i roll too far over to my stomach my baby will kick me...so i know to get back into place lol. im 33 weeks and those little kicks hurt so yeah.lol i always make sure to say sorry too. but pillows help alot. invest in a body pillow, if not, make one. :)
