Here's a few ideas to try and help alleviate his congestion. I've had to do this with my kids when they were sick too, even though they had antibiotics and stuff. There are those new shower tabs with eucalyptus that you place in your shower and the hot water creates a vapor, try getting some of those, then turn your shower on hot sit on the toilet holding your baby and just let them breathe the vapors from the shower. Then when you are done with that if you have a humidifier, go to your local health food store and buy eucalytpus oil, put a few drops of the oil into the water in your humidifier then turn it on when you put your child to bed. The oil vapors will help clear the congestion and break it all up to get it out of his lungs. There really isn't too much else you can do it's just got to run it's course. But these ideas should help to make him sleep a little better. Another thing I've done was to let my babies sleep in thier swings in the reclined position, for some reason sleeping in a reclined position helped with their breathing difficulties when they were sick. If there is no improvement in your baby in the next few days, or if he gets dramatically worse, call your pediatrician immediately and get him back in. Good luck, don't worry, you're doing good, he'll get better soon.

I once suffered from Chronic Bronchitis. I would suffer sometimes 3 to 4 times per year! Usually when there was a major change in the pressure outside (I live in the north, and the temperature spikes and dips do wonders to chronic sufferers of bronchitis!). Each time I would get horrible hacking coughs, hoarking up green phlegm..it was so frustrating!
The key to getting rid of your bronchitis is to find a way to completely eliminate the germs that are causing all the phlegm and irritation leading to your hoarking cough and heavy breathing. Keep reading to learn how to do kill these germs!!
This page it will change your life and make you feel 100% better within just 24 hours!

Apparently this Megan chic shouldn't be answering questions.
Antibiotics will NOT always work. My son had bronchitis and terrible problems around 5 and 6 months, then again 3 months later. He had it for weeks. He ended up being on the nebulizer four times a day, donatussin twice a day, alubuterol twice a day, anitbiotic twice a day, vaporizer, baby vicks, and alternating motrin/tylenol for fever. That is about all you can do. I know it sucks, but you just have to work with it. Just make sure you keep in touch with the doctor every few days. Monitor his breathing/coughing. If you notice any change, just take him on in. You don't want to mess around with RSV or pneumonia. And make sure he is getting enough fluids.
Good luck!!!

okay. I don't know if you want to hear anything natural, but I am going to tell you what works for me. My baby is just getting over this, so it is fresh in my mind. First of all, get some fresh garlic, mash it, cut it, (garlic presses work the best), and mix it with some olive oil, and rub it on his feet, and put socks on so it doesn't get everywhere. It will kind of stink, but it really works! Second, if you have a humidifier,(cold air), then put Eucalyptus oil in the water so that he can breath that with the air. The third thing I did is I actually put some garlic and olive oil on her chest too when she went to bed. With those 3 things, she was pretty much better in one day! She still has a slight cough, but she has her color back, she wants to get down and play again, and you can tell she is feeling good. She is 7 months old.

My boys had bronchitis in septmeber. There is nothing to really do other than give him the ambuterol and wait. He should clear up in 5-7 days on the medicine. If he doesn't call the doctor again. I would keep him close at night. My boys slept with us because they would wake up coughing horrible. good luck!

I am glad you took him to the doctor. However if the the symptoms seem to drag or get worse take him back to the doctor.
Now for my advice no quick cures for the little guy. I seem to remember my daughter getting worse at night what helped her was
to turm the shower on full hot and close door and turn of fan make it a steamy room!! Take baby in there and sit in steam filled room til
their breathing more comfortably for the night or until u lose 10 pounds LOL. Have him sleep in a carrier or car seat so that he does not roll on to his back or lay flat . That really helps the breathing. Like I said no quick cures just comfort tips.
Good Luck and may your little one get well soon.

First of all ring NHS Direct and talk the problem over with them.
If you are happy with their advice then fine, else see your Doctor again but asap and if you don't like his advice pop into the nearest A&E department - best to do this on Monday (if you can wait) as a child specialist is more likely to be available.
Good fortune.

take him to a differnt doc and ask about asthma and cystic fibrosis. My best friend kid had "chronic bronchitis" and asthma according to the dos until she hapen to get a job with a doctor that specialized with breathing and lungs (I don't know the techinical term) come to find out her son has cystic fibrosis and is finally getting the proper treatment and finally getting better.
so always get a second opinion when it comes to your children health if your child doesn't get better after the initial treatment.

I would take him back to the doctor so he can check him again. You can't really afford to take risks, bronchitis is very nasty. At least a doctor can check if he's making progress.
