Go to your local homeless shelters/soup kitchen- lend a hand cooking or doing whatever they need you to help out with- you will feel better for it and in the "spirit of the season", it costs nothing but your time, which is more valuable than money in this case but if you REALLY want a commitment in the spirit of Christmas, volunteer to be a Big Brother, this organization is in every town and allows people to become friends with kids that are from broken homes. It will be as rewarding to you as it is to him, think about it.........and Merry Christmas to you!!!

we used to do something called secret santa at college and each day you would leave a note or present for someone. you could start by writing down on a calendar things that you are going to do each day such as give a candy cane to your boss, get a santa hat for your dad, wish a random person seasons greetings (P>C>), donate to a charity, help at a homeless shelter, bake a cake/pie for a neighbor ... good luck, it sounds like a fun project!

drop extra change in the collections for mda, unicef and the like....go out and buy 25 holiday cards and anonymously mail them to random po boxes...or send them to a local nursing home....go to a cemetary and do some volunteer cleaning for a few sites...visit a maternity ward or childrens unit to see if any volunteer work can be done there such as helping new mothers to wash their hair or telling stories to children who are in the hospital...get a group of friends together to help clean a ballpark...any number of things to do....but remember giving is only giving if it comes from your heart and you want nothing...not even thanks...in return
