The man is 50 now and he was 12 when this happened over and over. I was 7 and 8 years old. He was my uncle and babysitter. For the last year of the molestation my mother had just died so it was a very traumatic time for me. There are different states involved as we were living in Mass. I am now in Ohio and he is in Georgia.
These bad experiences have been blocked but at times they come back as flashbacks and really bother me. I have also just come to realize that being claustrophobic and any type of weight on me makes me panic and it all stems from him.
I have a young daughter now and maybe this is why it's coming back to me as I could never imagine someone hurting her.
I am in counseling and may do hypnosis to deal with this but is there anything else I can do to him? He has literally ruined my life and any relationships I have had because of my fears. I also wonder if in his life now if he could be hurting someone else.
Should I leave it alone or do I have options?

I feel he should at least be made aware of what it has done to my life and the feelings I have and will never forget. I liked one of the answers where she told me to go to the police but where? Mass, (where we came from ) , Ohio (where I live) or georgia (where he lives). I am in no contact with this man nor have been for 30 years or more.

You would have to go by the statue of limitations for the state where the offense occurred. Which is Massachusetts. I know that in Mass. the issue of a statue of limitation on sex abuse cases was discussed a lot because of all the priest scandals in the state. The statue of limitations for sexual abuse of a child in Massachusetts is 15 years, starting from the date the alleged victim turned 16 or from the first report to law enforcement. You should speak with your counselor about other options you might have to help you.

Well first of all he was a minor when it happened. Plus how are you going to prove something that happened 38 years ago? The minute you mention hypnosis in talking to the law you will lose any credibility...... sorry thats how it would appear. I would move on an try to deal with this from a different standpoint...... be angry instead of a victim. Wondering if he is hurting someone else does give me pause though. Personally I would directly confront this person and explain what he did to you......... But then again.... don't the priests get charged after many years? At least it would be public embarassment and cause others around him to look at him differently and watch their kids around him. Yes, you should talk to a lawyer. Now all of this will be hard but is probably better than all the therapy in the world. Again, stay away from the hypnosis thing! Good luck!

They have crap called a Statute of Limitations.Which is a bunch of total crap.It protects the perp's.not the victims. We need laws to say they are Libel for life,as they destroy the Whole Child's life Forever.Being a victim,I like death, but death is to quick and sweet for them.Life without prole with Hard Labor, till death do they part.

You should involve the police. He has caused you pain, and you are probably not his only victim...and he wont stop. You are in a situation where you can prevent another child from getting hurt or worse..It will be difficult though..

i highly doubt it since its been so long ago (by the sound of your question) you could file charges but it probably wouldnt hold in court and only cause you more stress, unless you have absolute proof like video or something of that nature

I would leave it alone and move on with your life. Revenge never solves anything...just deal with the pain right in front of you and don't try to add to it. Best of luck :-)
