What's the difference between a Lion and a Tiger besides Tiger's stripes? Anything? I've heard they crossbreed them sometimes. If a Lion and a Tiger got into a fight who would win?

They are separate but closely related species. The tiger lives in asia and has stripes. there are several sub species of tiger and the siberian tiger is the largest of all cats. Lions live mainly in africa although a sub species of lion is found in asia (india). Lions don't have stripes but the males are characterised by a large mane (*a sub species of lion doesn't have this mane). A tiger would probably win a fight between a lion and tiger because the tiger relies on the lone stealth hunt where as lions are pack hunters. And the tiger (siberian tiger) is slightly larger than the lion.

Well, the lion has a mane, and a tiger doesn't. As far as I know tigers don't really mind the water but most lions do. They live in different parts of the world and in different climates / environment. As far as genetics I don't know. Yes thay have bre the two together - I think they are called ligers if I'm not mistaken... and they are adorable! I think it would be a pretty fair fight if they were ever allowed near each other, but I wouldnt suggest it!

There is not a lot of genetic difference. But the main thing is that tigers tend to hunt on their own (they are lone hutners) and tigers like to hunt in packs.

If you have a father tiger breed with a mother lion, you get a TIGON.

If you have a father lion breed with a mother tiger, you get a LIGER.

You can breed tigons and ligers with lions and tigers to get things like Ti-Tigons, Li-Tigons, Ti-Ligers and Li-Ligers... etc.

Wikipedia has a lot of interesting info on tigons and ligers. Check it out.

I think lions are more social. I've heard them described as the only social cat. They also look a little more well-muscled to me, but I could be wrong.
