Photosynthesis makes glucose (sugar) whereas respiration breaks it down.

Photosynthesis requires input of energy whereas respiration produces it.

Photosynthesis can be performed by plants and bacteria whereas all living things perform respiration (even plants).

Both photosynthesis and respiration are complicated and require many steps to perform.

Photosynthesis is the process where green plants use sunlight, carbon dioxide, and water to make food and oxygen.

Respiration is the process where cells use this food to release stored energy.
