Just got through doing the same thing.
Checked the net, Lowes Home Improvement and Home Depot for pricing and consumer reports for quality.
I decided on Kitchenaide because I wanted stainless steel on the inside as well as out. I also wanted the quiet feature, the fold down tines and adjustable shelving so you could move them to accommodate big pots.
I was in Lowes buying their model when the saleman suddenly got a case of the dumba_ _. They were offering free delivery and installation and when I ask what kind of discount I could get if I carried it with me and installed myself. (anyone can do it, it takes no brains) It wasn't that they didn't offer a discount, it was that the salesman couldn't understand what I was asking for. I got stressed and didn't want to loose my cool so I told him that I had an appointment and would return later to finish the paperwork. On my way I home I passed an independent appliance shop and thought what the heck. I went in and told them what I was looking for and they showed me a nicer model and their price was a $125 less than Lowes. When they checked their warehouse they didn't have one in stock so I took the floor model and got another $50 off.
The saleman said he had never made a sale so fast.
Brought it home istalled it in 30 minutes and it's been going strong for about 20 days. My only complaint was the satinless steel outside, until I found the liquid barkeepers friend.

Be sure and know what you want. Bosch doesn't have it's own heating element for water so if use the engery cycle your dishes will be soaking wet when finished.

Quiet and cheap in the same sentence doesn't work for dishwashers. You're gonna have to spend a few more dollars. Look for Boschs least expensive one, the SHU33. You'll spend between 400-500, but you wont hear it.

Go to a Sears store. They have high quality appliances and Sears stands behind what they see.

My wife returned a Vacumn cleaner after two years and they replaced it no question asked for free.
