I have the Mirena IUD. I love it! I no longer suffer from PMS or painful heavy periods. I didn't have any problems having it inserted. There is spotting off and on for the first few months but that is the only issue I have had with it.

As a mirena user you will LOVE it. I have been on mirena for almost two years now and it has been a blessing. I no longer have a period and the protection is incredible. In the begining you may cramp a little but it doesnt last to long. Remember that birth control is different for everyone. but i believe that you will love it

There is no evidence of weight gain! (in studies)
Its safer than having your tubes tied. Your Chance of pregnancy on Mirena is 0.1% chance of pregnancy while tubes tied is 0.5% The only side effect you might notice is a decrease in flow and cramping and 20% of women experience no period at all ( I haven't had one in 3 yrs) Another side effect is acne though in most women.

The cooper IUD causes heavier and more painful periods so if you already have heavy and painful periods I would advice you to stay away from the cooper one
