The (his last name) Family

2006-12-01 04:53:01 · answer #1 · answered by Anonymous · 1 0

When my husband and I were just living together, I wrote the return address just showing our two last names...

i.e

Smith & Jones
111 Anywhere St
Anytown, US
90210

It looked nice in scripted writing and was definitely a way of skirting the name issue

I have no idea if this is correct manners or not, It just seemed right to me...

If you're Mrs Jane Smith-Jones and he's just Mr Tom Jones, you should write 'Mr Jones and Mrs Smith-Jones'. Print some labels out on the computer, it'll make it easier. Or, since it's just the return address, sometimes I just write 'Jane and Tom, 555 Main Street, etc.'

I would write it, "The Smiths" (or whatever your new last name is). Whether you hyphenate or not, you are still "The Somethings".
