no no, dna is not at all amde up of proteins. chemically dna has 3 componenets- sugar molecule(pentose sugar), which has 5 carbon atoms and is common to every dna. then dna has a phosphate group which is inorganic. the third is the nitrogenous base. they are of 4 types-adenine(A), guanine(G), thymine(T), and cytosine(C). adenine and guanine are of the category purines as they have double rings, while thymines and cytosines are pyrimidines as they have a single ring. the structure of the nitrogenous base i the cause of change in dna molecules. it is alwasy attached to the first carbon atom of the sugar molecule. the phosphate group is attached to the fifth carbon atom, in such a way, that it is always on the outside, hanging in the air. this combintion is known as nucleotide. it is the building block of dna. they are paired to form dna molecules
