If the bug had more than six legs, it was not an insect. It sounds like it was a centipede or millipede. Here is a link to a website that should let you identify the bug you saw:

They are called house centipedes (even though they are soft-bodied and not related to centipedes or millipedes that are hard bodied). They eat spiders and typically prefer damp areas of the house.

seriously, I saw a whole swarm of alien bugs on this leaf outside my house, they were like really small robot dragonflies, I was scared to death of em, also, I've seen this beetle type bug in a big pack all dead crushed together twice, in two different spots, itwas really creepy

Thats a Millipede, they are like spiders sort of, but they are poisonious. Kill them all.
