Oh, please, my name is SO uncommon it dates me the minute I tell someone it-- Marlene for Marlene Dietrick the actress that most people haven't even heard of, she was famous back in??? I dont even KNOW when, I think she performed with Spencer Tracy, and by the way, the only other people I meet with my name are around my age or OLDER-- How's that for being cruel-- I can forget about the Botox and facial peels- my name will date me forevermore!!
I sympathize with you but there are a lot of us out there---it's like our parents (Im the 4th child), just got sick of "thinking up" names and probably were watching a movie and saw this star and said -"Yeah, that's an OK name, it's uncommon, that's gonna be her name", and there you have it, doomed for life.

Don't feel bad-I was named after a famous singer too. It appears my Dad was in love with her when I was born. Problem is, its also the name of a really old singer and his group, and a football player as well....so if I get a Baby Boomer, they sing me a tune from the old dude. If I get a younger person, they sing me the Female singer's tunes, and if I get a guy thats like extremely into sports, I get, 'oh like the football guy?' To make it worse, my last name is a really famous dude from the Bible, so I get alot of religious jokes, too...Good luck!

I have Scottish ancestry so that's where my first name came from.
My middle name came from a close family friend and spiritual mentor of my parents'; she had a real heart for elderly persons who needed personal care - first starting up a small nursing home with the best care possible and she has since expanded it to house well over a hundred elderly residents.
I'm really proud to have my middle name be taken from such a warm-hearted, generous person :)

My mom's name is Linda so she wanted to name me something close but not the same, so she picked Lindsay. My middle name is after my Paternal Grandmother's mother, Marie. I guess they thought she deserved a name-sake.

My grandmother. When my dad was born, it was 1911 and he was born at home. He only weighed a few pounds and the dr said he was dead. He put him in a box and left him in the kitchen. My grandmother was walking by and she saw him move slightly. So she took him and put him by the wood stove to keep him warm. She ended up raising him when his mother died.

Benjamin was a name my mom read and decided she liked. My dad also liked it because he had a friend in the Navy with the same name.

My first name is my mom's middle name, and my middle name is her maiden name, which is incredibly German.
And...that made my life not so fun. The name game took on a WHOLE new meaning!
