This person committed a robbery over 20 yrs ago, they just caught him and are going to deport him. I am not say he did not do it, he did. But deporting him seems very harsh
Hoping someone can clue me in on deportation practices.

Deported from what country?

The USA has no statute of limitations on deportation for felonies. The fact that he wasn't caught and deported 20 years ago is beside the point.

Many felons, adopted as babies and brought to the USA but never naturalized, have been deported to their countries of origin -- if they will take them, which Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos will not -- even though they don't speak the language of that country and cannot survive there. (Under new law that can't happen; and the adoptive parents should have had them naturalized; but deportation law isn't there to be fair, it's there to get rid of "undesirables".)

We are tax paying citizens. Why should we pay for him to take up space in our prisons? Prisons are already getting crowded enough. He deserves to be deported regardless of how long it has been since he commited the crime. It sickens me to know that people come here from poverty stricken countries, take advantage of our freedom, and decide to commit a crime. Not only did he probably get money illegally due to the robbery, he probably scared the crap out of people by threatening physical harm on them. Who knows, he could have traumatized someone for a very long time. Maybe now he'll realize what a dipshit he is to take advantage of the freedom this country would've provided him with.

Ah, the past has caught up with him. If he is not a U.S. citizen he must do his time here, then be immediately deported. Since it is a felony he will not be allowed re-entry. He will have to sneak back Illegally, which is another broken law.

People from other countries come here as guests. If they wish to stay they have to go through the proper channels.

Like any guest, if that guest misbehaves, he or she will be asked to leave.

Would you allow a house guest to stay in your house if they disobeyed the rules of your house? I think NOT.
It is no different with our country.
It should not matter how long ago the crime is commited.

there isn't any statute of limitations on criminal matters; he had 20 good years; time to go ; could be some other things that you are not aware of that they are like not being a legal citizen within this country; illegal alien; criminal, not paying taxes , breaking numerous laws besides robbery - see ya

well he's probably an illegal alien and he committed some crimes here in the us and he's being punished for what he did. you see if an illegal alien commits a crime here and he doesn't have a green card he can be deported back to his home country and that's the punishment for being in the us without a green card and committing the crimes he committed.

Well, if you are a criminal, you do not deserve to live here. People like that are the reason Illegals are facing the problems they are today. Yes some good people come here but it is not worth letting scum in with them. Send his *** back where he came from before he does something like that here.

Why should a foreign national be rewarded for illegal activity? Regardless of how long ago it happened, why should he be allowed to remain in our country?
