If you wait until you have saved enough money you will never have kids. If you and your spouse want kids, have them when you are emotionally ready.

You know, it does'nt matter if you put some aside for the occasion or not. Because, savings will be used up when an emergency occures and your children will always be there no matter which situation should occure. It's like asking how much food should I store away before I move out? There is no way in knowing how much you will need as the days advance. My best advice to you is this;
-First, have your child
-Buy used clothing because they'll never wear it out before they grow out of it.
-Formula is good for some but try to stick to milk. I worked on a dairy so I got it fresh and pastured it at home by heating it to 60C and then shocking it by dipping the pot in a sink full of cold water. She never got sick. If it was good enough for our grandparents....
-Get a cheap blender and once baby's at the stage of hard foods, what ever your having for lunch and give baby some blended with a little milk.
-Next is the meat, I hunt for mine therefore it's free.
-The only big expense you have to worry about will be a good diaper. Most babies have fragile skin and reusable diapers will irritate them not to metion the work. Since were on the subject, if you are to remember anything, rashes are best resolved with a creamy mixture of vaseline and cornstarch.
That's pretty much it besides the lack of sleep. You have to remember that there small and depending on how you raise them, they can ither be happy with little or be regular wallet monsters. It's all up to you. The only thing is to probably open a savings account for their post secondary schoolling.
Hope this helped and, when the day comes, enjoy that new little life. They will be your fondest memories

What? You dont need to save money. Its not like they require a down payment or a security deposit. Between the ages of 0-4 they really dont cost that much. Between food, diapers, and clothing for a month it runs you about $200 bucks. There is always WIC that helps with food also and other programs if you get in a bind. Its as much as the payment for a car every month, but which is more enjoyable? Ok dont answer that. lol

I have seen figures range from 256,000 to 456,000 for the average cost to raise a child to the age of 18. If you are seriously thinking about saving that amount of money before having the child you will be old or dead before you have one.
Instead you should think realistically. How much does it cost for you to live right now? Does this include savings? What do you have left over now? Could you come up with an extra say 500.00 a month? Just think it through.

Depends on what expenses you feel you may encounter I would say will at least 5,000-10,000 put away on reserve, just to be on the safe side and of course a job to replenish the money used from savings. Children are expensive but they are priceless, so work out a budget and make sure to save up money for them.

There is no set amount. There is never a perfect time. You do what you do and it works out. It's just how it goes. When I had my son, we had absolutely nothing. His dad worked his butt off to provide for us and it was hard, but we made do.
There are no guarantees in life, so even though it would be nice to have a nest egg to pay for all those little incidentals, it is not as much of a necessity as you think.

the decision to have a kid is never about money. poor people have babies in the inner city, and rich people have babies everywhere else. the issue is to make sure you set your priorities right and raise the baby on what you have. start saving now the best you can, but have a baby if you want!

If you let money be the deciding factor you will not want kids!
Fortunately you can provide for kids no matter what your income bracket.
My wife and I started below poverty level, as our family grew so did my income. They never went hungry and were always carried for.
It is about love... not so much the material things.
