I had no idea that any Germans thought that. The Nazis, who were way ahead on arrogance, were more or less atheist.
ADDENDUM (for the person who sent a private e-mail): The operative words are "more or less". I'm not going to get into the distinction between what the Nazis said and what they thought and did. I was only offering an historical illustration; and I'm a lawyer not a historian -- and happen just now to be reading a book on Nazi jurisprudence.

According to the Bible, the Jews are Gods chosen people. I wouldn't know about the Germans.

A recent poll of Germans showed that 15% still believe they are superior to other races. I'm sorry I can't remember any other statistics from it with certainty but I believe it was a CBS/NY Times poll (I'll look for it online). It had some other disturbing numbers though. Something like 30%+ thought that foreigners only came to Germany to rob it of its wealth.

Using the "One in a million" theory of crazy to normal. There is a guaranteed 82 crazy people in Germany. It is possible that one of them thinks they are chosen by God.

Seems everybody claimes to be the chosen ones at one time or another. I know God loves everybody.....but I'm his favorite. JUST KIDDING!!!! I'm certainly glad it's his decision and not ours.
