I have been on it for 4 and a half years. I am not planning on coming off it for a long while yet, but I was just wondering if there are any major side effects of doing so, and whether or not they are stronger when you have been on the pill for longer?.

No real side effects other than the obvious pregnancy. Your period also could be a little heavier. I myself felt better off the pill because I had severe nausea. You don't say how old you are but being on the pill for long periods of time is not recommended. Especially after 35 or if you smoke. Good luck.

I was on the pill for over 6 years. Stop taking it for 6 months with no side effects. I feel a lot better coming off the pill.

I was on the pill a few years ago and came off it to go on the depo jag and didn't find that i had any side effects, I'm not saying you won't though cause everyone is different i am back on the pill again after being on the depo for a while and everything is fine.

Thanks for asking this question, I've been on the pill for about 5 years and I don't plan on coming off of it anytime soon either. I'm interested to see if there are any major side effects.

There shouldn't be any side effects. What you must be careful of when you come off is seeing your doctor about getting folic acid As your quite fertile when you first come off but you dont produce it very well and it is crucial for a babies spinal cord and there is a higher chance of having difficulties with the new baby.

There is only one slightly large side effect to coming off the pill - pregnancy!
