tough! Your baby has no one to rely on except YOU!! Is he supposed to feed himself? Change himself? So why should he be expected to comfort himself? Babies have no guile, they do not cry to annoy or irritate you, they do it to express their needs. If you cant handle it, get a nanny who's PAID to do what a parent should.

once again, try to remember that your baby will never need you this much in her life, and you should enjoy it! However, it can get very stressful when all your baby wants to do is be held. My first was the same way. You baby is old enough to let her cry for a while before you pick her up, but I would recommend talking to her and not just ignoring her. Also, don't let her cry for more than a half hour or so at a time. Sometimes (or all the time) you've just gotta suck it up and do what your baby wants! If you are getting really overwhelmed, get a babysitter or a relative, someone you trust who can watch the baby even for an hour or two, just to give you a break. Remember that your baby will soon be much more independent, and she will have better things to do than cry for you all the time!!

Hi, it's ok to get frustrated. Every new parent goes through it at some point in life. Try not to worry to much. You have to understand that babies only cry as there way of communicating to us. Just don't jump to quick right away, to the babies attention. The baby seems like it might be to use to that already. What you do first is try talking and playing with baby before picking him/her up. If that does not help, check diaper, if straining to poo, need feeding or burping. Baby just might have some gas. Another thing to do is check the babies hole in nipple of bottle. Make sure liquids are not flowing out to fast. That will definitely cause gas and upset baby alot. Some babies in the beginning are just a bit colic than others. Normally will last 1-3mth, but some 1-7mth. What I find that's good to keep on hand is 'gripe water' I use the alcohol free myself, and 'baby oval'. The 'baby oval' is good at gas relief if that's the case. But remember just hang in there, as time goes by You will know your babies needs. To be honest they only want your love and attention. Hang in there and be strong. You will do wonderful.

my husband feels the same way..and i agree that there does come a time to just the baby cry...but i dont think 4 months is old enough..my daughter is 4 months and i let her cry for like min or two and then check on her..lots of babies start learning at this age that if i cry mom or dad will pick me up..so my advice is check on the baby..make sure he is okay and not turning blue or anything..talk to the baby, give a pacifier, turn on some music and see if the baby calms down..when he stops crying pick him up...make sure that the baby is fed properly..they seem to be crankier when they are hungry..also the baby may be sick..if the baby cries for two or more hours continous you are supposed to call your pediatrician..keep that in mind..also the baby may be colicy...try some mylicon..that helps my daughter..good luck and remember if you ever get over whelmed and feel that you might hurt the baby then just walk away for a minute and take deep breaths

Well there is no harm in tending to the child's needs until he or she is about 9 months of age. your not going to spoil the baby. Infants cry because they need something not because they think gee let me make life harder for mom and dad. It's important that you do answer the babies cry because these months are crucial to his or her development. Baby is learning to trust you and the new world you brought him or her into.

There is such thing as spoiling a child by holding them too much, but tending to their needs is your requirement as a parent. You MUST feed them when hungry, change them when wet, and also spend some time holding them and soothing them, especially at that age. I swear, people should have to go to school and pass an tough exam before making a child. If you don't want to "tend to their needs" YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE BECOME A PARENT IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!!!!!! Grow up, and get over it.

It doesn't hurt for a baby to cry,but first make sure that all of your babies needs are met. .But don't let it go for a long period of time. Check on it often. It does them good to cry some. Good exercise for the lungs(my doctor said). And mine are all grown

i seen your question before, sounds like your not having fun. listen up your the father you have to deal with it wheres the mother. I haven't slept thru a night in 6yrs. you get used to it. don't go saying stupid things or doing something stupid either to the baby. check everything,,,, like, is he hungry, wet, tired, upset stomach, try wrapping him up in a blanket like they did in the hospital, try a pacifier, go for a walk with the baby or a drive but your tired so try the walk. men just don't have the motherly instincts that women have. why don't you call your mother ask her I'm sure she'll be glad to help. cheer up dad it gets better really it does.
