PowerPoint is a major and very expensive program that is part of Microsoft Office. If you have Office (programs like Word and Excel) on your computer, you probably have PowerPoint. It is, however, almost certainly on the computers at your school--particularly if your instructor is asking you to use it. Check the computer lab at your school or ask your technology director.
If you find that you must buy a copy of PowerPoint, try to buy it through a reseller at an educational discount rate. The Microsoft website has links to some of these. You can get the entire Office 2003 program (not the most current edition, but sufficient) for well under $100, when it would normally sell for for times that.
There are many PowerPoint tutorials on the web that can help you figure out how to use it.

PowerPoint comes as part of the Microsoft Office package. If you have Word, Excel, Outlook, etc. than you probably have PowerPoint also (or it is on your MS Office CD).
If you are a student, then they probably have it on the school computers if you don't have it. Good Luck!
