to lose power durning the hight of summer. or to lose power in the winter?

"About 2.4 million customers across central and southern Illinois and parts of Missouri were without power early Friday after ice snapped tree limbs and power limbs." thats a quote from a CNN articul i read this morning.

But i also remember that Ohio and parts of Michagan (sp?) lost power this summer. durning the heights of summer. So im wondering at which is more dangerous?

I guess i should say that i realize that both are very bad and it is also very unfortunate for whom ever is going through this. I am just wondering. And yes i know i cant spell sorry.

I would say summer because there is only so much you can do to get cool. If your cold you can always pack on the clothes and wrap up in a blanket

I think it's more dangerous to lose power in the winter. I live in Ohio, and when we lost power for a couple days during the summer, it wasn't fun but it's not like we had to go without heat or anything. The only really bad thing that happened was that we had to throw everything in our refrigertaor away, and we couldn't drink tap water for a while.

I would say in the winter. I remember that when I was a kid we lost a power for 4days in the winter. It was horrible we had no way to keep warm.

In the summer you can jump into a pool/lake to cool down.

Winter is more dangerous. Lose power during the winter and most of the time you lose the means to heat your house.

a gas furnace may continue to work without electric, but the ones i know of have fans that blow the warm air out. sure you can bundle up, but your water pipes will freeze and burst,
in summer,
you can buy ice to keep your food cold, but so you lose some food,
have a banquet when the power comes back,

That is a tough one!!
I would hate to be in either, but I think that loosing power in the winter would be the worst cause I hate being cold!!

Losing power doesn't necessarily mean losing heat. Losing your power in summer is worse because you can't bundle against heat and your refrigerator/freezer goods can't just be put outside.

For me, I would think winter would be worse. It is easier to keep cool than it is to fight off a freeze.
