since its under your boobs and around your stomach, two of the areas that grow the most during pregnancy, i would say its safe to venture a guess that it is just your skin stretching. Talk to your doctor at your next apointment just to err on the side of caution. Continue to use whatever lotion you find to be the most useful, however, make sure it contains vitamin E if you want to cut down on the stretch marks. Keep in mind this only helps prevent them to a small extent. What is ultra important, and many women don't realize it, is to make sure you are getting enough vitamen e in your diet. It helps with your skins elasticity. It also has other good qualitys like protecting your body against free radicals and may help prevent parkinsons (if gotten through food sources, not supllements). The foods that contain vitamin e....nuts, leafy greens, certain seafoods, liver, chicken etc., also are good for a pregnant womans diet for other reasons too (protien, iron, etc.) so you really cant go wrong with it!
And no, by the way, it is not too early for stretch marks, ecspecially around those areas. this is the time when they are really going to start growing now, and if your body isn't used to gaining weight rapidly (ie, if your a smaller woman to begin with), there going to pop up sooner than you think they will....good luck with everything :)

Scratching does NOT create stretch marks, contrary to an earlier post. Stretch marks occur under the top layers of skin. Constant scratching can break the skin, though, and that can lead to infection. Like all rashed and bug bites, do your very best not to scratch. You are itching because things are growing! It is perfectly normal. It is annoying and frustrating, and really the only thing that can help is lotion. I recommend Aveeno - they make one for itchy skin, and they also make a great body wash for itchy skin. Or you can try Gold Bond medicated lotion, it worked pretty well for me.
One thing to look out for - If you develope persistant itching all over your body that is extreme and won't go away, tell your OB about it. It can be a sign of a serious kidney problem that needs to be treated for the health of your baby. I had it with my last pregnancy, and the itching was the worst on my legs.

There is a low occurrance but I would mention the itchiness to the doctor. There are a few women who get whats known as a pregnancy rash that doesn't fully resolve itself until after the birth of the baby. But the doctor could give you suggestions or creams to help give some relief.

Well, it could be cause your stretching, as others have suggested, OR it could be that you're allergic to the hemoglobins your baby is producing. That's what happened to my sister. They had to put her on some medicated cream (which helped some) cause she was tearing her skin up itching so much! It doesn't get any better the further you get along either. I'd discuss this with your doc and see what he/she suggests. Good luck!

You're growing. The itching will come and go. Try not to scratch too much. that will just damage the skin more.
I'm only 8 wks pregnant and the itching is in my back and boobs!!!
Try to use an oatmeal lotion.
Good luck!!
