I'll probably get flamed for this, but I'm not too partial to the CGI f/x and the use of digital video. I loved the practicality of the older series and the look.

Plus all of the older ones had better fashion senses...

But... the new stories are incredible. I will never deny that!

I think they've done a great job reviving the show. As you say, the stories have been gripping. I'm in the middle of watching the second series at the moment.

I don't think I would have been impressed if there hadn't been any CGI. You have to remember that this technology wasn't around for most of the original run - and that if they used the same special effects that they had used back in the 1960s and 1970s, it would have looked dated. To appeal to new viewers, they couldn't appear to look dated in any way.

Most of the doctors dressed according to their era. This era is kinda hard to dress to - and still look "professional" (not the word that I'm looking for, but the Doctor needs to look a little different from everyone else around him). Can't personally remember the last time I saw someone wear a pin stripe suit myself - but because the Doctor wears one, you remember. The clothes is something that we'll always associate with each individual doctor.

PBS at midnight runs them once a week. Last one was Tom Baker, 1976, and they fought an energy ball in a medieval setting. The week before that they fought a giant plant creature called a Crinoid. I can't watch the all new ones because the NBA is on at that time and I need to have my priorities in order, Go Mavericks!!

Oh, wait. Last Sat. 11:59 pm, or Sun. 12:01 am, a hand regenerated into a silicon-based lifeform. Eldrad must live!!!

Well, if you get flamed, it wont be from me. I loved the original show to bits *but I am impressed with the newer one, yes*. Gimme Tom Baker as the Dr, Sarah Jane and a Tardis and let's go!!

I like them equally, but I must say the effects in the newer ones are much better. Also I do miss some the recurring villians from the original.
