It's really important, please!

Um, I'm thinking earlier in the past, not the present day. I want to be able to give examples in a speech that I'm writing without causing a big fight. (Though I really agree with you, nmp948)

Examples. I can't even think where or when this didn't happen. No matter what country or leader there is, there are always lies and someone is always getting the shaft to a certain degree.
1.Adolf Hitler
2.Fidel Castro
3.Ayatollah Ali Khamenei
4.Kim Jong Il
5.Hu Jintao

Not to leave out my home the U.S.A.
During the time of Pres. Reagan's term in office we had supported DEATH SQUADS that made people "disappear" 70,000 killings in El Salvador, more than 100,000 in Guatemala and 30,000 killed in the Contra War in Nicaragua. All because we had allies known as "Freedom Fighters" fighting for democracy. Every lie has two stories. The only question is what side of the lie do you fall on.

EVERY COUNTRY IS GUILTY OF YOUR POST. NO EXCEPTIONS! Pick a country and you have carnage.

i agree with what was said above in that i can't really think of a place where this has not happened. if you're looking for a matter a little more settled that's less likely to cause trouble the MEDIEVAL CRUSADES certainly fit your description. The Roman Catholic papacy and a number of European monarchs convinced their people that by fighting in Jerusalem and securing the holy land from Ottoman control they could: save their souls, win favor in the eyes of God, and secure the salvation of others (amongst other things.) The result of this lie (it has no merit Scripturally or logically) was that countless Christians and Muslims alike (both soldiers and innocent families) were killed in a conflict that lasted over 3 centuries. The Spanish Inquisition would also work if you wanted to look at another example in church history.
