Spybot is an anti-spyware program generally regarded as being safe by the security community. I have used it for years but switched over to windows defender which was originally Giant's Anti-spyware which is the best in the business.

There is a copycat spybot program that is not as good as the real one. Make sure yours is spybot search and destroy, or spybot S&D, not spybot spyware or any other. I have spybot on my computer and it has never done damage, but has saved my computer from stuff my other protection didn't catch.

Spybot is a good program for cleaning out Ads. Also, try Ad-Aware and especially try CCLEANER.COM. CCLEANER cleans up your registry as well as other things. CCLEANER.COM is free as a download, as is Ad-Aware. I use a combination of CCLEANER and SpyDoctor.
