Well, first of all, athletes are different from a basketball player or a runner or a swimmer. Athletes are the people you find on saturday morning in the weight room, on the field, working on their game, trying to give them the edge. Athletes are the really Sports people. Those are the people who arent afraid to fail, the ones who continue despite of failure and in return are very successful. Your sport maybe football, maybe running, or even maybe ballet but, no matter what sport that athlete does they all live by this (Cheezy) quote: "Pain is temporary, Pride lasts forever."

Eat right and get the proper amount of sleep. Depending on the sports you play, be sure to take special care of those muscles and body parts that you use the most.
Stay away from alcohol and drugs. If you are a serious athlete, you need to know your body is your temple. Take care of it.

do you want some helpful tips? What sport are you, girl, boy, age? I could be specific if given better info. General tips are, eat well(watch your diet), get a good coach, train hard, do weights to develop strength, make sure to warm up before doing any sport, saves you from injury, makes muscles supply and able to handle the work, have fun like what you are doing, stay away from drugs(performance enhancing and others)
