OK, the question is a wind-up but if you said 'why shouldnt I say this in an essay?' you would have a good point.

Why is it OK to use these words in quotes and not to use them in the body of the essay? It's like visiting a museum full of obscene classical sculptures, and speaking in a whisper.

NOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! many teachers will see it, laugh and give you an immediate poor grade!!! never, ever use inapproprate language in an academic essay!!!!! just say, why not? in stead of why the F not? and also, in many essays, you should not be asking questions, but answering them. and don't use I, me, my, or other personal words to write an essay. essays, unless it is about an experience you have/had or you are persuading someone to your point are always supposed to be written in a factual manner, like a news report!

well to be honest, it is best that u try not to use such words in an acedmic essay...why not substituting f*** with hell...that would be a little better...then again it all depends on the type of essay. If this essay is going out to college institutions or to certain companies for a potential upgrade in life status...then no...DEFINITELY NOT!!!

Of course not. Using slang, slurs or swear words will show that you are not serious about your work. Unless it is a quote which is relevant to your thesis. However, I don't think you should use this word, the teacher will be turned off and may give you a low mark.

暴言 are the mean remarks that can hurt people's feelings. 妄言 are the remarks that are based on illogical things or things that are not true. I think 妄言 don't necessarily hurt people's feelings. I hope this helps.

I was told by my professors in college to never use colloquialisms or slang in an academic paper. Ever. Unless you are directly quoting someone (and as such, will include a citation of your source) "why the f- not?" should not be used.

Yeah, it's probably okay. The vulgarity depicts the seriousness of your argument and lets your teachers know "you really mean it."

Of course, if the rest of your essay sucks, then your teachers will just think you're a little rebel-rouser.

I think it depends on how old you are and if you think your teacher would think it would be appropriate. If you use it as a direct quotation I would think it would be acceptable, but if you are using it to disagree with something or to get your point across I suggest you try to use a better choice of words.

That type of language shows a lack of vocabulary. Get out your thesaurus and your dictionary, I'm sure you can come up with a phrase that means basically the same thing, without offending your professor. Good luck.

if it is only your own opinion say:it can be asked why this should not be the case: and then present your reason, don't swear in an academic essay.
