An atom consists of a nucleus (containing one or more protons and zero or more neutrons) and some number of electrons. Atoms have the same number of protons and electrons, because otherwise, you would have an ion.
A molecule consists of two or more atoms bonded together.

A molecule is the smallest unit of a substance. A molecule may consist of multiple atoms. A molecule of water is H2O: 2 H atoms and 1 O atom.

An atom in simple terms has a nucleus which has protons and neutrons and surrounding the nucleus are electrons, this whole thing is an atom. When an atom or atoms bond with other atoms the whole group is called a molecule. So a molecule is more than one atom bonded together.

The same as the difference between a song and an album. Or The same as the difference between a musician and a band/orchestra. Molecules are a combined group of atoms, combined either via ionic bonding or covalent bonding. Atoms are the stand-alone versions of a single element. In general, you can say (of course there is a gray-zone): Element is to atom as compound is to molecule.

Simply put an atom consists of only one element (as in from the periodic table); a molecule consists of more than one atom, and thus (possibly) more than one element.
Some famous molecules
Oxygen is a molecule in its natural O2 form (2 oxygen atoms together)
water is H2O and is 2 Hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom
and while an atom of an element may or may not be in equilibrium in nature (like one oxygen atom or one atom of potassium) molecules normally are)

Atoms are the smallest things that can be identified as a material. There are atoms of hydrogen, helium, carbon, oxygen, and so forth -- a total of just under 120 different atoms.
Molecules are made up from atoms and are much bigger. Water, for example, is made up of hydrogen and oxygen (specifically, 2 atoms of hydrogen and 1 atom of oxygen -- that is why its chemical symbol is H2O).
