first, I grew up just south of K'Zoo. There is plenty to do, as long as you are willing to spend some creative energy on the process.
My friends and I were always able to find something to do, whether it was going to the movies, or out to a diner to hang out and talk, or if we were really bored we'd go out and take pictures. Drive around the countryside and look for interesting buildings and areas, take photos of the buildings by themselves, or dress to the nines and made a photo shoot. Be the models and directors. Experiment with the styles of photos, nowadays with the versitality of most digital cameras and photo programs you've got endless ways to "Develop" these photos, B&W, Sepia, and so much more.
Still bored? Look around your community for a need. Volunteer, you'd be surprised how much time that fills AND how much more satisfied you'll be with how you spent your time. Not sure where to volunteer at? Try local churches, homeless or domestic shelters, animal shelters, schools, library, nursing homes, hospital and on and on.
Volunteering, hanging out, or photo shoots not your gig? Try this:
take a map of K'Zoo. A good map that details streets and neighborhoods. Now, break that map into managable sections and tackle a section a day. Take some time and explore that area. Stores, community centers, museums downtown. As you explore you might find some hidden treasures that you never knew were there. (My friends and I discovered a wonderful little Mexican restaurant near downtown that way once.) If we hadn't been exploring we never would have known it was there and it was a treasure!
Still bored? There's many community activities, theater, clubs, museums, libraries often have community programs, as well as local community centers. STILL bored? Look to the close by outlying communities, Grand Rapids isn't all that far away, they've got lots to offer too. Take a day trip along the coast of the Lake, just to explore the smaller artistic communities that you find along shores.
Get a group of friends together and along with some pizza, fresh snacks, pop etc.. get some painting supplies, cheap "cardboard" canvas and paints & paintbrushes, and just create what you will. Short on cash for the supplies, you can sometimes get discounts at art stores on discontinued or damaged merch. Or if painting isn't a good thing, then get your group together and write a story or play together, it's guaranteed to pass the night in laughter and feeling like you're the most brilliant people who've ever lived in Michigan. (take it from someone who has done this it's not only funny but you can find out a lot about yourself and your friends in this process--just keep to the rule that it cannot be hurtful to one another and you should be ok) Really you might amaze yourselves with the creative things you come up with.
I know you've got a lot of snow & ice right now from that storm so don't charge on out there until it's safe ok? :-)
Hope this helps. BTW, I didn't give the name of the Mexican restaurant my friends and I found because 1) I can't remember the name- it was tiny and it looked like someone's house and 2) I'm not sure if it's still in existence, and 3) This gives you something to search for ;-) Good luck!

Kalamazoo has plenty to do. We have museums, air zoo, dozens of used book stores, new book stores, restaurants and shopping. Yeah we have drugs and alcohol as well. Just like everywhere else. I can t remember the last time I was bored, anywhere. I always figure being bored means you have a simple mind. You will never catch me saying, I m bored . I ve got too many things to do.
