It's to do with the UK catching up on Lost and Heroes. Lost had their break just before season 3 started on Sky One and Heroes breaks off on 4th of December but we're having to wait until January when it airs on Sci-Fi and then BBC in February when the US continue with season 1.

At least in the case of Lost, they want to go the semi-24 route (all new episodes with no repeats). Too many people complained about new episodes being few and far between last year. This season, they had six or eight episodes in a row, stopped and showed Daybreak in its place, and then will finish the season starting in February with no repeats. It will be nice in February, but I fear that they will lose viewers to first-run shows that are being shown when they're on hiatus.

Well one reason is that Christmas is coming up and everybody always has dinners and stuff to do and also they have to film enough episodes to start a new season. Its the end of the season until February

It's normal this time of year. With all of the Christmas Specials, Football, and this being one of biggest travel seasons, that you get a lot of reruns. But this year, to get ratings & more money from advertisers, networks are making a big deal about it.

Because the season usually ends around this time and then they do reruns for people to catch up one what they missed and then in Feb they will have all new shows

Maybe with all the holidays and everyone traveling they are putting it off until things calm down so no one will miss their fave shows!!! :)
