Last night i came across a hand-bag (perhaps lost). I picked it up and when opened i lost my senses.

It has few documents but no one such to identify its owner. I'm double minded. What should i do?

1. Report to police
2. Enjoy pounds as unexpected gift
3. Try myself to find the person

What is your honest suggestion?

Karma...return it as you found it. Rewards will follow...

I'm not sure what the laws are where you are, but here in the US, if you find money and turn it in to the police and it is not claimed within a certain amount of time... then it's yours free and clear.
That way your conscience is clear too.
How do you know that money doesn't belong to some poor little old lady that has to buy medications and pay her utilities so that she won't freeze to death this winter? What if this happened to your mother or your grandmother? Wouldn't you hope someone had the decency to turn it in?
Or...what if that money is suppose to pay for a family's Christmas? Do you want to be responsible for little Cindy not getting anything under the tree this year?
What if that is money that was suppose to go to orphaned children to buy food and clothing?
God rewards those who the right thing. If you don't see your reward on earth, that's because it awaits you in Heaven.
And...you never know, there might be a reward from the owner as well.

To be honest, do what you feel is right. My instinct would be to keep it, but I've never been in such a situation before. Thinking ahead is the key. Think to yourself about possibilites. Imagine you keep the money, how would you feel? Would you feel guilty? Imagine you report to the police, would you take it as an oppurtunity missed? Personally, I would keep the money, as if you had a sudden guilty feeling, you could always return the rest of the money (unless you spend it all at once) to the police. Don't bother with trying to find the person, if you want to return it you may as well give it to the police.

I dont know how much is that!!! But Im guessing a lot of money!
It dependes on how the police in your country is.
If they are crocked I would keep the money. Hey better i spend it then they do.Now if the police are going to return the money to their original owner I would give to the police.
You never know if that money was to pay a rent, or buy medicine for a sick elderly or child!!!! Or even food.

I would say turn it in ,but now people really don't reward you for your honesty any more it use to be a time when people would give you half of what you have found ,but now you get a pat on the back or a piece of paper . Then again it is x-mas time and i guess that would be the thing to do is turn it in maybe their might be an award for you later.

Sen it back to the owner. You may take the money as a finder's fee(not saying that's right, but the owner probably expects it will be gone anyways)...However, the owner will be really happy that they don't have to re-apply for all their ID and stuff all over again. Someone actually sent me my lost purse sans the money before, and I didn't even care that the money was gone! Just happy not to have to get all that stuff made over again-true story!

I am unsure of the laws in your part of the world. However, as I understand it the accepted procedure is to turn it into the police lost and found department. They will give you a receipt. If the rightful owner is not found within a certain period of time you can claim it as your own.

I suggest calling your local police station to verify whether this is, in fact, accurate.

Keep it......Trust me if you turn it in to the police and its has nothing to identify the owner it will sit in storage for 1 year and then it will be up for grabs the materail items will be auctioned off.The police dont have any specail gadget to find the owner and they will not waste their time using high tech machines to try and get finger prints.
