If you look at what N2 looks like, then you would see that it has a triple bond with itself. So it has 6 whole electrons sitting in covalent bonds (which are extremely hard to bump). This means it only has one lone pair of electrons free to be bumped on each nitrogen leftover. The noble gases have LOTS of lone pairs that are free for bumping.
