Hey there. Here in Chicago, and I'm downtown finally, it's still coming down.
After I finally left the house this morning, I realized that my car was covered with about 3 inches of snow(thank God it was the slushy kind, which is the kind that I love the most, and I was able to just rub it off my entire car yet the roads don't have it so good.
I slid all way to my cross-street which was in much better shape because the city had the guys out early clearing the streets of snow.
I saw a few rear-end collisions which already took place along my way to drop my son off for school.
After I finally parked @ 87th and the Dan Ryan(which is the big supposed "no parking for non-mall shopping pedestrians lot" which is also in walking distance from the 87th Street Entrance/Exit to the Dan Ryan Commuter Red Line), I left my car and immediately got hit with what felt like little spears of snow bearing down on my face(it did hurt a bit).
Regardless, I dealt with it and pushed on until I met up with quite a few other very unhappy commuters waiting for the Northbound train which of course never came.
After waiting 10 minutes, I finally decided to take the next train back to the 95th Street "end of the line" where I stayed on the train knowing that it would just turn around and head back out in my initial direction... which of course it did(smart me).
Eventually I made it to work but not before my ears met it's share of very upset, very peeved completely "packed to capacity / standing room only" commuters who were not as lucky as I as they were very wordy in the way they felt the CTA(Chicago Transit Authority) was treating them.
"Hey.... we can't all be lucky yet we do have to deal with it..... standing room only or not".
So far we got close to 4-5 inches here in Chicago.
Anyway, my 7am commute which usually gets me to work by 8:30am, turned into my finally arriving @ 9:30am meeting my smiling boss head-on at the door and the greeting words of...... "Winter Has Finally Arrived".
"Whew!.... that was close.... thank God I didn't get fired!!"
"Oh Yeah!!! I'm having tons of fun now!!!
Happy Friday!!!!!

I'm having tons of fun and no it really isn't that bad. The people here just don't know how to deal with snow. That's what is causing all the problems, not the storm itself.

I guess I sound like an old timer, but I knew we were going to pay for all that warm weather. It's cold, snowy and windy outside, but I am going out as soon as I can. We are used to this in Chicago, but it takes a while for drivers to "find their sea legs" so I'll be very careful!

I'm in Oklahoma. Yesterday, at first, it was really bad...icy. Today on the other hand...we're gonna have a blast! My kids have been out of school for 2 days and didn't get to go out yesterday, they'll go out today for a few minutes, at least.
