We are a struggling young couple looking for a new sofa (the other one broke) and can afford to spend less than $500. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

You could try IKEA in Stoughton or Bob's Discount Furniture; I did a quick look on their web sites and both have sofas for $500 and less.

Also, as someone suggested, definitely try Craigslist.

You could also use a futon for now; before my fiance and I could even afford a couch, we just settled for a really nice futon.

Good luck!

Go to Building 19. Their motto is "Good Stuff Cheap." They have 15 stores in the Boston area. They sell closeouts, samples, insurance losses, and some seconds. If you find some place that beats their price they will give you a bottle of champagne and beat that price.

I think that they are running good sofa deals at McDonald's. Check the $1 menu.
