If you are worried about sound, put an extender and megaphone on the tailpipe, if you are worried about performance, leave it alone.

you probably bought just the can at the end, so now here is what you need to worrie about. For sound you need a larger piping from the cat back, then you need to find a free flow cat, and you can take out the resinator that is what quiets you exaust anyway. I know because i did the same thing with my 98 honda accord i wanted it loud but i wanted performance and it helped out too, then later on down the road it would be a good idea to put headers and a cold air intake system, and then with all this airflow you can put larger injectors from the k20 from the acura rsx- type s and you should be pretty quick, with that and a few more performance parts of course.

unless you can manage to fit a cherry bomb or extra pipe tip at the end i don't see how you could make it louder (without damaging it). If your budjet allows it you'd be better off putting a P-flow or headers. The sound is much more satisfying... Also if you extend you exaust main line to a 1 1/4 you can achieve some nice sound -and performance- but it's costy.

If u want loud noise go with a glasspack, if u want deep performance sound go with a Flowmaster or leave it as is. The problem is that if u make it louder and your car is a 4 or 6 cylinder it is going to sound like a lawnmower....dont make it too loud, youll regret it later.

There are laws regarding the level of noise cars can make. Don't push the limit.

buy a new muffler, or buy an attachment -- make sure you know how loud it is before you buy it.
