It's still a little early to expect Jr. to sleep through the night. Still, I did go through this with my youngest daughter (who is now almost 10 months old). Remeber that the more you let her sleep while holding her at night....the more she is going to fight you on an alternative method that does not involve mom and dad holding her (and can you blame her....who wouldn't rather have someone holding them versus being alone in that crib??)
Try to set up a routine. Bedtime bath, followed by some slow dancing with relaxing music, a bedtime bottle, burping, and then some rocking in the rocking chair. Once baby looks drowsy....lie him down in the crib. He may fuss....but give him about ten or fifteen minutes to settle down. If he is really fussing....that is fine (just make sure there aren't any blankets or plush animals in there to get in his way). IF after fifteen minutes he still isn't sleeping (or quiet)....go back in and start over.
THis will mean a couple of sleepless nights....but those nights will pay off eventually in that your son will learn to call that crib his home.
I remember this time so well...I think it took about five days for me to get my little one to actaully sleep without me holding her (of course she would sleep in her swing during the day....). Oh....that reminds me. If your little one seems to be not sleeping as much at night---LIMIT nap time during the day!!
I hope this helped!! Good luck and CONGRATULATIONS!!!

I feel for you I really do. I recently had a baby and was going through it. We then went out and bought the ocean wonders play pen and now he sleeps nice and sound. It has a little toy on it that lights up and plays music and the little fish swim around. My little guy loves it. He stares at it for so long that he ends up falling asleep with no problems. It's still early for him to be sleeping alot at nite. Maybe he has gas or a tummy ache. If that might be the case you can also use the Dr. Browns bottles. They work like a charm and it really really cuts the gas down. My little guy never has it. I hope maybe I helped in some way. Just know so many parents are going through it and soon enough it will all be over and you will miss those days of waking up to take care of him at nite.. Good Luck!!

Well, you could bonk him on the head with a rubber mallet; that always worked on me.
Try a different baby monitor - the one you get obviously has a channel overlap with a radio station in town. Take it back to the store, if you still have the receipt - you might be able to explain the problem and get a store credit. If you do get another one, DEFINITELY get a different brand (because it will operate on a different channel).
Kids don't sleep much when they're still this young. But, here's a web page that might help.

At 7 weeks you can't really expect to sleep very much. It's natural for him to wake up and want to eat or be changed. (that is why everyone speaks of new parents not getting any sleep) There is nothing to do except wait for him to get older.
Giving alcohol is not recommended! For babies as they are older and teething some people used to do that to numb their gums but there are other things for that now. (and this baby probably too young for teething!)

True Story: I had an old lady once tell me to dip the tip of your finger in some whiskey and rub it on their gums.
Her kids are normal and live successful lives. So the evidence is there that there are no side effects from it, but personally I don't think I could do it.
OR you could use a product called Gripe Water made by Baby's Bliss. Check out the source I left for you. This product I have used and it is awesome. AWESOME I tell ya! You will thank me later for it.

You can lay the baby down on your chest. The sound of your heart beat helps the baby go to sleep. It always works for me.

my 11 week old only sleeping through for a week or so, and thats early according to everyone I have spoken to. Try Gina Ford or Tracy Hogg routines and they will sleep through as soon as they can, Its something to do with their weight apparently. Good luck.

Um....All babys have sleeping problems so try giving him a nice warm bottle....or breast milk and rock him to sleep. Try staying in his room until he goes to sleep. He will stay asleep longer that way! Good Luck!
