I am a 23-year-old that is right out of college, with limited funds. I am fairly creative so I would like to make some of my Christmas gifts. Any Ideas?

MY girlfriend was in the same predicament last year, and she made things called no-sew throws. It involves 2 pieces of fleece that are about 5' by 7' that are cut and tied together. There is a good guide here. All you need is the fleece, a ruler, a good pair of scissors, and about 2 hours of free time.

The good thing is that you can kinda personalize it, my GF made one with a Minnesota Vikings pattern for her step-dad, who was a fan.

Depends on what they like. Do they have the sort of hobbies where containers to keep the tools and supplies in would be welcome? Then get some nicely shaped containers and cover them with paper or fabric or whatever and get imaginative there. You can recycle old things, like a five-gallon ice-cream container from the ice cream store will make a nice wastebasket.

There are also household things that you could make or create, especially from recycled materials. Go to the second-hand store and see what inspires you. A lamp that would be perfect for Mama's recipe desk (or sewing corner, or whatever) if you sanded and painted or decoupaged it or whatever. A dresser that would be perfect for out-of-season clothes in the spare room if you only repainted it and did a bit of gluing and hammering to get it into shape.

Just the right chair for that corner of the dining room, where it can be available when there's too many guests for the matching chairs. May need a paint or repair job, but it's a good chair. I now have a wonderful old antique chair with a woven rope seat I learned to make because I found the chair in the trash with a broken rush seat. Found a book on woven chair seats from Dover Publications, and off I went. It's a family heirloom now.

There are plenty of used things that you don't have to be ashamed of giving as gifts, whether or not you make any changes in them. Since you are creative, you presumably have enough of an artist's eye to know when you look at something and it is just right, or when it could be just right with a bit of modification.

My parents favorite gift from me was a calender with past pictures in it you can do it cheaply by your self with the help of a computer and a scanner or Kinko's makes really nice ones for some cost.
