the problem with roof leaks,is that it could have been leaking for some time and is now to a point which is visible to you. there is possible rotten wood. with a joint the water could be entering in anywhere. your best bet is to call roofers who will give you an estimate. call quite a few and you should come up with an solution good luck!!

It may need to be re roofed in that area or all areas, hopefully it's a small problem and needs only tar to fill in and reseal from the weather. You need to cover it with a tarps and weighted immediately so as to prevent further damage while you get a contractor in to fix the problem. Water damage can become very costly and many insurances will not cover the damage if you did not take immediate steps to prevent further damage.
